Weddings

Choosing a band for your wedding is a crucial part of organising your big day. You want to enjoy your first dance as a married couple, and you want all your guests to have a brilliant time too! Well, that's where we can help.

As one of the best UK wedding bands, we have played at countless weddings and our special talent is getting the party started !

Our style of jazz music means there is something for all your guests - from young to old, and from the most reluctant dancer to the one who's always first on the dance floor.

We can also provide wedding bands for other parts of your special day - duos trios or quartets to play background music during your wedding ceremony, drinks reception or during dinner.  You can have 1920‘s and 1930‘s music all night or we can vary the programme to suit your tastes and your guests; we can also include the music of the 40’s, 50’s  and more into our performance as we also perform as The Oscar Bernhardt Ensemble, to vary the music, keep people entertained and on the dance floor.

Don't just take our word for it though - look at what other people say about us. (Testimonials)

Wedding Venues Revue

Swinton Park, Masham, N. Yorks.

The Charlies played for a wedding here in August 2012. Billed as a castle it’s a castle like very large stately home. The rooms are stately and ornate. The staff were very pleasant and relaxed. The only problem i can see is that the wedding party can easily split into several different rooms that are  spread out and  may lose focus. The setting is gorgious; 200 acres of parkland, lakes and gardens, very near the lovely village of Masham, in Wendsleydale. Masham is home to Theakston and the Black Sheep brewery. We couldn’t get a brewery tour in before the gig, but will try next time; they’re supposed to be excellent.

The Shireburn Arms, Hurst Green

Bernhardt and Barnwell played here on 11/9/11, for a birthday party. The Landlord was  a welcoming host and coordinated the event with a relaxed  touch. The bar is in the function room and serves delicious real ale. The function room looks out to stunning views across the valley - the edge of the forest of Bowland.

The Christians Bar Ballroom at The Beauchief Hotel, Sheffield

The Charlies played here late August 2011. The ballroom is great for 50 to 70 people , and gives out to a lovely gritstone patio area with a stream running on the other side of the rear stone wall - all tastefully lit at night- and you can be outside and still part of the party. Young conscientious staff

pay attention to detail while being unobtrusive .

Yorebrige House, N. Yorkshire dales

The OBE played here Oct 8 - it’s surrounded by lovely countryside, and  is by the village of Bainbridge. Marquee for wedding breakfast is adjacent to the hotel - guests move through after dinner so the evening is all set and ready to start -  seamlessly. Party is in a cluster of smallish rooms all well connected, so everyone is at the party  but has a choice of volume and not everyone needs to be on the dance floor for the party to be happening. The staff facilitate a good time for all !

Plas Maenan Country House. The Charlies have played here each summer for the past few years - and it is always a delight. On hot summer evenings - we’ve played our first set outside on the covered veranda whilst  guests enjoy the beautiful views from the fountain terrace. For the owners running the place is a labour of love. The food is delicious. There’s an oak block dance floor and a Steinway piano in the music room !

Strike up the band !

The Charleston Charlies

“Charleston Charlies was a real hit at our wedding! Every one loved them; young and old.”

The London Canal Museum

Interesting and inspired choice of venue - lots of talking points -the drinks reception  (with The Charlies playing !) was in the old Ice House, downstairs, overlooking the canal. Wedding breakfast was upstairs, (accessed by stairs not the horse ramp). Whilst the room was being turned round they had deserts and another hour of the Charlies in the ice house. It all worked rather well.
