“Oscar and the boys have given us some wonderful memories.”

Maureen Lipman, October 25 2012

(After an afternoon filming with The Charleston Charlies for a BBC documentary about memory and music)

The Vincent Hotel, Southport. January 2013

....a great gold star evening exactly what we were expecting and what we wanted. Simon and his team were excellent capturing the mood and ambiance of the party exactly. The feedback we have had on Facebook from the 100 or so guests has been terrific, I cannot compliment them highly enough.

Birthday Party      Poundbury, Dorset.   May 2013

The Charleston Chappies were simply brilliant. They were very versatile and although they played all the 1920's classics they also played a great mix of music during the evening, keeping everyone on the dance floor until midnight. Before the event they sent me a recording of our wedding dance to practice with and communications all the way through were excellent. I would certainly recommend them

Wedding  Lancashire May 2013

Peter and I would like to say a huge 'Thank you' to you and the other members of the Charleston Charlies for providing some fabulous entertainment at our wedding on Tuesday. We were thrilled with the quality of the music, and also the flexibility you showed throughout the evening to fit in with us running late, our friends providing an impromptu performance for us, and also working with the Charleston dancers.

We thoroughly enjoyed your performance and would most definitely hire you again! Our guests were also highly impressed with you and several asked for your details, so you never know, there may be future gigs for you!

Wedding, Somerset, July 2010

It was an absolute  pleasure to see  you and The Charleston Charlies again and once again , I really enjoyed your performance. You are not just an incredibly talented group of musicians but you work together and with the audience to deliver something that is worlds apart from your average function band. We’ve had loads of favourable comments from people who enjoyed the night.

Corporate function, Oct 2008

I just wanted to let you know that the Oscar Bernhardts Charleston Charlies was a real hit at our wedding! Every one loved them; young and old. I think they really made the day.  They were lovely guys too.

 Wedding, July 2007

Everything was perfect, from the professional set-up and image to the efforts you made to ensure the party went with a swing, blending the 1920s into more modern swing. Most importantly of course, was the quality of your music - you performed the songs with talent, pizzazz, style and showmanship. And you don't need to take our words for that; all of our guests - even the ones difficult to impress (my Dad) - have told us how much they enjoyed your performance; it really was the highlight of a fantastic event.

I'd recommend you, without reservation, to anyone looking to book a band of hugely talented musicians who can put on a real show that evokes the class and style of a previous era.

We couldn't have wished for a more talented, or professional, band to round off our day.

Civil Partnership wedding, 2008

We booked the Charleston Charlies / Oscar Bernhardt Ensemble for our wedding in Shropshire, and they were excellent. Everyone said how much they enjoyed the music, and how good it was. The dance floor was full with guests of all ages for almost the entire time they were on (pretty rare at a wedding) and even when people needed a breather, the music was perfect to sit and listen to. They set up and played a few songs while everyone was leaving the evening meal, then announced our first dance (Tea For Two), then played about a 40 minute set, followed by a quick break then another two sets of similar length. After starting with the Charleston Charlies repertoire they moved onto the Oscar B tunes which provided lots of variety. They also allowed us to plug an MP3 player of our own music into their speaker system for the breaks and then until the end of the evening – which was very useful as it meant we didn't need to hire a separate disco.

All in all they were excellent and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them, 10 out of 10.

Wedding, Lilleshall Hall, May 2011

... it was an absolutely wonderful wedding, made even more special by the superb music. You guys are really something special, and it was a genuine pleasure to be able to listen to you!

I just wanted to thank you and your band for your excellent performance at the ICMIF reception last month. The client was absolutely thrilled, she said  “The Charleston Charlies were such good fun!”

I look forward to the opportunity of working with you again.

Birthday Party  Inglewood Manor, Cheshire.  November 2014

I just wanted to say that the band was fantastic on Friday night for my big birthday. They absolutely made the evening.

I didn't get chance to say goodbye because I was probably mingling and chatting so please let them know how fantastic they were and hopefully more business will come their way as a result of the evening.
